1/28/17 – Google Apps Certification Boot Camp

Description: Looking to take your knowledge of Google Apps to the next level? Join us for this intensive Boot Camp led by authorized Google Education Trainers and dive deeper into Google Drive, Docs, Forms, Calendar, Gmail, Sites, and more! Participants will engage in hands-on exploration of Google Apps with a focus on classroom application. For those interested in pursuing certification as a Google Educator, this Boot Camp will provide you with hands-on experience in some of the more advanced features of the Google suite. 2/2/17 – Makerspaces & Design Thinking Online Book Discussion

Description: Join us for an interactive online book discussion as we explore makerspaces and design thinking during this 8 week course. Exchange ideas with other teachers, gather valuable resources and connect online through social media as we test-drive maker-style projects and ideas to our existing classrooms. Each week will include reading, online discussion and exploration, as well as a 30 minute “live” Twitter Chat. Teachers will curate resources on their own Pinterest board and test-drive the LAUNCH cycle with a rapid-prototyping maker project. No social media experience required! Required reading from this course comes from the book “Launch: Using Design Thinking to Boost Creativity and Bring Out the Maker in Every Student”, available in print or Kindle version from Amazon or any bookseller.  3/4/17 – Creating with Code

Description: You don’t need to have any coding experience to incorporate computational thinking into your classroom. Join us to dig into free, kid-friendly, block-based coding platforms like Scratch and Scratch Jr, and more, that will have you and your kids creating with code in no time! Teachers will learn about options for pre-readers as well as students in grade 2-8. Hands-on with the support of the presenter will enable teachers to explore sites appropriate to the grade level they teachers. In addition to coding websites and apps, teachers will be exposed to un-plugged (no computer required) activities and computational thinking games.
