  11. I’m concerned that this feature is not working properly. I signed out of all sessions. Then changed my password. But I can still get into the accounts on my iphone without being asked for a password. My android phone is out being fixed and I couldn’t get into it to log out of my accounts/ google drive. Does anyone have any thoughts/ advice? Thank you.

    • Hi Cynthia-
I apologize if the post is not clear. This method will sign you out of WEB sessions, so if you were on a computer or Chromebook, and logged into your Google Drive account or email, then left that computer and want to log out remotely. When you use a mobile device, you are accessing things like Drive and Gmail using Apps, which automatically retain your credentials. I am not aware of any way to “Remotely” log out of an app. You can log out if you have the device, but in your case, since it’s been sent off you would not be able to. Since you changed your password, it should prevent anyone who has your phone from accessing your account since the password that is connected to the phone App is now incorrect. The user would have to enter the new password, which they won’t know, so you should be safe. Hope that helps!

      • Hi Jen many thanks for getting back so promptly. What has me concerned is that despite changing passwords on my laptop, I can still get onto the account on my iphone without being asked for verification/ re-entry of new password. I had another look online and did find another suggestion which I’ll post below as it may be helpful to other (it didn’t work for me though, as for some reason only my iphone shows on the remove list but not my android phone). Now it’s fingers crossed and surrendering to it! Thanks again and a great evening to you.

Remotely Log Out Gmail For Android
If you use an Android handset and it’s been stolen, or you left your phone unattended and unlocked, someone, anyone, can access your email. To sign out of Gmail on your Android phone, you need to take more drastic measures. You will have to revoke your phone’s access to your Gmail account. Head over to your Google Account Settings and go to the Security tab.

Under Account Permissions, click View All and wait for the list of apps, services, and devices to load. Your Android device will be listed here and when selected, you will see a Revoke Access button. Click it and your Android device will no longer be able to sync email, contacts, etc. Be warned that if you’ve lost your Android phone, revoking access to it like this is not a good idea if you plan on trying to lock or find it.

  14. Jahid, resetting your password should work, but you may want to read through Cynthia’s comment from May 25th where she shares more details about revoking access that certain apps may have.

  15. For remotely signing out from your mobile devices using any browser, you can navigate and logon to — https://security.google.com/settings/security/activity

  16. Thanks @Kirthi for the link!

  17. Thanks for your recommendations
If browser in private mode chrome in mac can also disconnect?

  18. hello im a student at a highschool. Our emails were created by the school district for every student to use. we got chromebooks that enabled us to learn better and to log in we use our school emails.

But I wanted to know if i logged into a different device NOT AT SCHOOL but at home with the same email though, can the teachers see what we are doing?

  19. @David, when you sign into Chrome and it prompts you to “link data” that allows all of your bookmarks and browser history, etc, to be connected to your account, not a specific device. No one will be able to “see” what you are doing when logged into your account on a device outside of school, but, in theory, it may be possible for them to view your browser history if it hasn’t been cleared and the account data is linked.

  20. Why is it so difficult to get out of
google? After 2 years I still don’t have an icon, but they sure make it hell on earth to get out of anything they stick you with without notice or any consideration.
In the last 4 years I haven’t even been able to get Chrome or Google Earth, but my page is totally wrecked.

  21. Marcos, It sounds like you are signed into Chrome. Not sure what you mean when you say “I still don’t have an icon” or “my page is totally wrecked”. If you can elaborate, perhaps I can help? Perhaps this post may help: https://teachingforward.net/2015/03/13/managing-multiple-users-in-chrome/

It sounds like you may be signed into multiple accounts in the same Chrome session. You may want to take a look at this post which explains best practices for signing onto multiple accounts in Google: https://teachingforward.net/2015/03/13/managing-multiple-users-in-chrome/

  25. Thanks for this fellow human.
This makes me feel there is hope for humanity.

    Cheers::

  27. Great post! However I noticed that after signing out of all other web sessions, it still had me logged into my phone. Does this feature not work on phones? I have a phone that isn’t in my possession right now, and I’d like to log myself out of my email in that phone. I was testing this on my other phone I have, and it didn’t log me out of the email app. Any suggestions would be helpful.

  28. I have lost my windows phone lately. My gmail account was log-in that device, how can I logout my mail account from that device?

Please help me, And thanks in advance.
