Considering how much time we spend browsing the web, users often don’t take full advantage of all the Chrome browser has to offer. It’s worth taking a minute to review some key tips to ensure you are making the most of your online experience.

#1 – Sign In & Sync

You can use the Chrome browser without signing in, but why would you? By logging into Chrome and Syncing, your bookmarks, Chrome Extensions and other personal settings are available to you. What many don’t realize is that there is a difference between signing into the browser and signing into Google Apps. By signing into the browser, all Google Apps you navigate to will immediately be logged in as that user.

#2 – Create Separate Sessions for Multiple Users

Most of us have multiple Google accounts but few know how to toggle between them efficiently. Instead of “Add a User” when in different Google Apps, learn how to “Manage Users” in your Chrome browser to create a clean separation between accounts. Check out this detailed post which includes a tutorial video on how to effectively manage multiple accounts in Chrome. This method keeps your bookmarks, history and settings separate from other users. No more linking your personal banking information to your work account!

#3 – Control Your Tabs

How many times a day do you accidentally close a tab when using the Chrome Browser and want to get it back? Re-open closed tabs quickly with Ctrl+Shift+T. Did you know if you click on the blank space just to the right of your open tabs and right click you get a menu, which includes “Reopen closed tab”. With this menu, you can also bookmark all of your tabs. I love this feature when I’m trying to shut down but want to quickly pick up where I left off. If you want even more control to bookmark multiple tabs for quick access, check out TabCloud Chrome Extension. I use it to bookmark and quickly launch multiple tabs for ongoing projects or tasks.

#4 – Chrome Shortcuts

For Chrome Browser tasks you are often repeating, there is likely a keyboard shortcut that will allow you to function more efficiently. A complete list is HERE but some of my favorites are:

  • Ctrl + l = Highlights the link of the page I’m on making it simple for me to grab it for a quick copy/paste/
  • Ctrl + h = Opens a new tab to show your browser history
  • Ctrl + Shift + t = Re-opens the most recently closed tab.

#5 – Arrange Tabs by Dragging

Bring order to the chaos of your Chrome browser tabs by clicking and dragging them into the position that works best for you. You can even pull down on a tab to open it in it’s own browser session.
