Create an Interactive Google Drawing

  • Start with an image: Create a Google Drawing and insert an existing image, or create your own using shapes, images and text.
  • Overlay a Shape: Insert a shape to cover the image and/or text that you want to link.

  • Hyperlink the Shape: Add a hyperlink to a website or videoclip of your choosing to the shape that is covering the area of the image you selected.

  • Make the Shape Transparent: Change the fill and border color of the overlaid shape to “Transparent” so that you can see the image and/or text beneath.

Sharing your Interactive Image

Interactive Google Drawings can be shared with a link or via Google Classroom as Google Drawing files. Alternatively, you can download them as PDF files which will retain the hyperlinks.
